When the big freeze hits and winter takes over, a slew of ski resorts in and around Beijing are ready and waiting, open to all those seeking a bit of winter adventure. Here's a little list we put together of some top spots for your next ski weekend in the capital.

Nanshan Ski Resort

Nanshan Ski Resort, one of the biggest and prettiest ski resorts in Beijing, has been a fan favorite for years. Also known as Nanshan Ski Village, it's on the northern slope of a mountain called Nanshan, or "South Mountain", about 80km northeast of Beijing in Miyun County.

With a high-speed quad, two-man chair, 12 rope tows, and platter ski lifts, the resort can handle 5,400 skiers and snowboarders per hour. That means less time waiting and more time skiing!
